Messina: Let’s hope to live long enough that we can have economic agreements to respect

Messina: We need a shared solution to avoid that bad luck does not determine the outcome of the season.

Olimpia Milano coach Ettore Messina talks with Famiglia Cristiana about his letter on the current situation in basketball, written earlier this week.

“My regret is in the fact that, in responding, everyone focused on a secondary aspect of my letter which was my proposal of what can be done to finish the championship and Euroleague (the proposal to play only the national championships from here to February-March and then concentrate only on the Euroleague.), for me instead the important thing was that those who are at the head of the various sports organizations, LBA, organization of the European Leagues, International Federations, would sit around a table and sought a common solution, which today is still a long way off”

“There are risks and difficulties in traveling from country to country. Many games have to be postponed because there are too many infected and we cannot play, it is difficult to find the dates to recover. We need a shared solution to avoid that bad luck does not determine the outcome of the season. Unfortunately, however, those who got upset after my letter were concerned only with the fact that if the competition changes it will be difficult to respect the economic agreements. I might be out of the chorus, but I say, let’s hope to live long enough that we can have economic agreements to respect”
