Mark Williams still hasn’t returned to Hornets after rescinded trade

Mark Williams has yet to return to the field with the Hornets since the trade that brought him to Los Angeles was canceled.

Mark Williams has not yet returned to the Charlotte Hornets after being shipped back by the Los Angeles Lakers, who nullified the trade with Charlotte. Since the trade was canceled, Williams has not played in any of the three games the Hornets have played.

The Hornets are believed to be giving Williams time to readjust to returning to the team. By coincidence, Charlotte’s first game after the All-Star break will be on Wednesday specifically against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers had agreed to bring Williams to the yellow-purple in exchange for Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2030 first-round pick trade and a 2031 first-round pick. After conducting physical tests on the Charlotte center, the Lakers decided not to finalize the trade.

Because the deadline to make trades had already passed, the Hornets and Lakers could not rework the deal. NBA commissioner Adam Silver said the Hornets have not filed any form of official complaint with the league.
