Marc Gasol says ‘The door is not closed’ on NBA return
Gasol explained that he has never considered the possibility of returning to Barcelona
After 13 seasons, and a series of achievements including a Defensive Player of the year and the NBA title with the Raptors, Marc Gasol is not yet ready to give up on the NBA.
"In the NBA they know I haven’t closed the door. Now I wanted to do this thing (play at Girona) and they understood it, perhaps more than many people here in Spain. The door is not closed, I am not saying that I will return or that I am evaluating it, but I know that there is interest on their part … at the moment I am focused on Girona.
"The most precious thing we have is time. We have little time and each of us decides how to invest it. to live unique experiences, I wanted to give this time to a city that supported me in difficult moments in sport, when I started my career at the age of 21 “.
The big man, who will turn 37 at the end of the month, explained that he has never considered the possibility of returning to Barcelona.
"Honestly at that moment I didn’t see myself… And I didn’t have the physical guarantees necessary to do what I would have expected of myself. This is also why I decided to take a small step back and start over. Now I feel much better and I begin to have more confidence in my body ".
