Maodo Lo: “It is the right time to come to Milan, with Melli and Voigtmann will be easier”

It’s Maodo Lo’s day for Olimpia Milan, “a player we have always liked for his athleticism, shooting, enthusiasm and we are also proud to now have a World Champion, actually two, Maodo and Johannes Voigtmann”, the General Manager of the club, Christos Stavropoulos said, introducing the German point-man to the media. “I’ve been here for two days; I was impressed by the organization, and I had a lot of fun. Playing in a team like this is an honor. I hope to make sure I can contribute to have a successful season.”

THE CHOICE – “It’s true, it’s the first time that I leave Germany as a professional, but I played in three of the most important clubs, Bamberg, Bayern, Alba Berlin, with whom I played for years at the EuroLeague level. I believe that my development has been good and grew up consistently. But I wanted to move up a level further, I’m ambitious, and this is the right time for a step forward. Milan has inquired about me previously, I knew that the interest was genuine, so when Coach Messina called, I didn’t hesitate. Logically, I spoke with Nicolò Melli, with whom I played in Bamberg, and with Voigtmann, who I know from our common experience of many years with the national team. They are great human beings. They will help me to adapt to the team, to the city. But they will also be important on the court. Their basketball IQ is so high that playing with them is easy. For me, as a point man, it is even more so.”

Maodo Lo: “Now in Milan I am curious to see art galleries, museums, I’m very attracted”

THE WORLD TITLE – “Every experience for a player is important, an experience like this helps to become aware of one’s own abilities and to grow the confidence. For me, playing together with Voigtmann is important, because we understand each other wonderfully and this represents a good foundation for the team. German basketball is taking advantage of a generation of great talents, who have decided to sacrifice their free time to play for the national team for many years. It is a combination of factors, continuity, talent, knowing each other well. This gave the opportunity to compete at the highest level.”

THE ITALIAN LEAGUE – “I expect it to be tough, I expect it to keep growing as it has in Germany in recent seasons. We are Olimpia Milan, and we will always have everybody sights set on us. Every team will be waiting for us to give its best. We will have to be ready to match this type of intensity and concentration.”

THE ARTIST MOM – “I grew up traveling around the world, because she exhibited, in museums, galleries, so I saw everything, I discovered new cities, I was always immersed in art. Obviously it has been a big part of my life. Now in Milan I am curious to see art galleries, museums, I’m very attracted. Then my mother is obviously my mother.”
