Maccabi Tel Aviv is facing a difficult situation due to the decision of its foreign players not to participate in the next two Israeli championship matches.
This decision was made in response to the unilateral 15% cut in their salaries, a move permitted by a contractual clause. Sport5 reports.
Despite talks with the management, including those with Shimon Mizrahi, the players received no guarantees that the reduced salaries would be returned in the future, leading them not to join the rest of the team for today’s trip to Israel.
As a result, Maccabi Tel Aviv will have to face the upcoming matches against Hapoel Haifa and Hapoel Be’er Sheva with a team composed exclusively of Israeli players, some of whom are young athletes.
This situation could lead to sanctions by the league, which requires teams to field their strongest players in league matches. The situation was officially confirmed by Maccabi Tel Aviv through a statement.
