Damian Lillard, currently with Team USA in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics, has decided to speak with the media to deny the news that emerged yesterday about his possible trade request to the Portland Trail Blazers.
I woke up to those reports, a lot of people reaching out to me. But it’s not true. I’ll start off the rip and say it’s not true. A lot of things are being said. It hasn’t come from me. I haven’t made any firm decision on what my future will be.
On what the Trail Blazers need.
I think if you look at our team as it is, going into next season, I don’t see how you can say this is a championship team. We’re in the playoffs every year. We’ve got a great environment, great city, we have great fans. There’s a lot of positives, but I just think we’ve reached that point where it’s not enough. My intention and my heart is set on being in a Trail Blazers uniform for my entire career. But over time you want to win it all. And we have to make strides to do that
