Trey Thompkins, a 34-year-old American wing-pivot, is the new acquisition of Leyma Coruña for the 2024-25 season.
Thompkins, originally from Lithonia, Georgia, began his professional career in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers, then moved to Europe where he played for several top teams. After a stint at BC Nizhni Nóvgorod, he joined Real Madrid, where he won four Liga Endesa championships, three King’s Cups, four Spanish Super Cups and a Euroliga title in 2018.
For the past two seasons, Thompkins has played abroad, with Zenit St Petersburg in the 2022-23 season and with Red Star
Belgrade in 2023-24. Known for his ability to open up the court thanks to his three-point shot, Thompkins is also adept at playing in the low post and rebounding, making him a complete threat to opposing defences.
