After nine months of waiting due to a serious injury with Badalona, Leonardo Okeke, a big man of Pallacanestro Varese but owned by Olimpia Milano, is back playing, making his debut with the Serie B team, Varese Basketball Roosters.
In his debut, Okeke scored 14 points, 11 rebounds and 2 stoppages in 14 minutes, showing positive signs despite not yet being 100% fit.
Here are his words to Tuttosport: ‘The sensations were positive. I’m still not 100% from the point of view of quickness and explosiveness, and that will take some time, but I’m looking forward to playing a game with my teammates in Serie A and making my debut with Openjobmetis. I don’t know when it will happen yet: maybe in the Cup towards the end of the month’.
And on Varese: ‘An environment where everyone cares about you. With Luis we had set ourselves the goal of returning in January: I worked hard and we made it. I also thank my family and close friends who have been close to me during this period’.
