For the first time in his 21 All-Star selections, LeBron James did not play in the NBA All-Star Game, citing left foot and ankle soreness.
“I was hoping to feel better, but I wasn’t where I wanted to be,” James said after deciding just two hours before tipoff to sit out.
James, who has played 48 of 52 games this season, aims to return Wednesday vs. Charlotte, a rescheduled game due to California wildfires.
Despite his absence, Team Shaq’s OGs, led by Curry and Durant, won the tournament-style All-Star event. James also discussed playing alongside Luka Doncic, saying the addition of a generational talent has energized him for the season’s stretch run.
