An eventful Saturday in EuroBasket Qualifiers has left only two places available for next year’s tournament.
First spot could be grabbed today by Estonia, with a win against Russia or a North Macedonia defeat against Italy. Otherwise, Estonia and North Macedonia will contend the final place on Monday in a rescheduled game, with the latter needing to overcome a 9-point first leg deficit to clinch a tiebreaker.
Second spot will be up for grabs in Vilnius on Monday, with a “run-off” between Lithuania and Denmark: the winner will qualify, the loser will be eliminated. Denmark shocked the 3-time champions in November on a buzzer beating win, and will need to reply that feat to reach their first EuroBasket since 1955.
Out of the 22 teams already qualified to Eurobasket, just three are not returning from 2017 (Bulgaria will play for the first time since 2011, while Bosnia and Netherlands will return from 2015).
