Anthony Davis did not take his exclusion from the finalists for the Defensive Player of the Year award very well. In fact, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar expressed his disapproval in an angry statement to ESPN. Here are his comments.
Anthony Davis on being left out of the DPOY finalists: “I’ll never win it, the league will never let me win it. I’m the best defender in the NBA: I can defend from point guard to center, I defend pick-and-roll situations better than anybody, I make blocks and I get rebounds. But the league doesn’t like me, so I’m never going to win it. I don’t know what else to do, I just think about what I can do to help the team win and try to play for the title. I’m done with the individual awards.
The finalists for Defensive Player of the Year are Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat and Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs.
