The Los Angeles Lakers are exploring the possibility of acquiring Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers, according to sources familiar with the situation. The team has internally discussed whether to put both of their available first-round picks on the table for this trade deadline, provided Turner is willing to sign a new contract in the summer.
The technical fit with Anthony Davis would be ideal, especially considering Davis’ desire to play less as a center. Turner, currently shooting 39.3% from three, would improve floor spacing and provide elite rim protection. However, the main hurdle remains financial: Los Angeles would have to manage a high payroll, with Davis, LeBron James, and Turner among the most expensive contracts.
The deal would likely involve Rui Hachimura and two first-round picks, but it remains to be seen if Indiana, currently fifth in the East, is willing to part with their starting center ahead of the playoffs.
