After the news and subsequent denial over the past few days, Kristaps Porzingis announced that he will not compete in the 2023 FIBA World Cup with Latvia due to plantar fasciitis.
Porzingis explained that the choice was made by mutual agreement with the national team’s medical staff and the Boston Celtics.
“It was not an easy decision, but I promise I will be there and support the team as much as I can.”
Obviously this is an important loss for the team led by Luca Banchi, who will face Finland tomorrow in Riga in the last friendly game before the FIBA World Cup.
Latvia is in Group H with Canada, Lebanon and France.
