Gordon Hayward is leaning towards declining his $34 million player option in his contract with the Boston Celtics to become unrestricted free agent.
If he does not pick up the option, it is because he has a promise of a multi-year deal when free agency begins.
And the Knicks seem the team ready to make a huge bid to bring Hayward in New York.
Hayward’s official decision on the Boston player option for next season is due at 5 PM ET
If he declines the option to become an unrestricted free agent, it’s the strongest signal yet he has a landing spot on a multiyear deal via free agency once the market opens Friday at 6 PM
