Klay Thompson to join Team Bahamas for Olympic training camp

Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson will join the Bahamas national basketball team for Olympic training camp in Houston this week.

However, he is not expected to be cleared to compete in this summer’s Olympic qualifying tournaments. Thompson, who won Olympic gold with Team USA in 2016, needs an official release from USA Basketball and FIBA approval to play with the Bahamas.

His presence at the camp is symbolic at a crucial time for Bahamian basketball.
