Shams Charania talks about Kevin Durant, who could leave the Brooklyn Nets in the event of a Kyrie Irving trade.
The forward would be monitoring the team’s situation, and would be ready to ‘consider options’ for his future.
Sources: Kevin Durant is monitoring the Brooklyn Nets’ situation and considering options with his future.
This now opens the path for Kyrie Irving to proceed on finding a new home via opt-in and trade.

Basically, should the point guard leave, KD would most likely follow shortly after….
Charania then talks about what appears to be the most viable scenario for Irving’s trade to one of the 6 teams he would have listed to the Nets (Lakers, Clippers, Mavs, Heat, 76ers and Knicks, per Wojnarowski).
By exercising the option for next season the former Duke could be traded normally, thus avoiding the hard cap that is triggered in the event of a sign and trade.
ESPN Sources: If Kyrie Irving can’t reach an agreement to stay with Brooklyn, he has a list of teams he’d like them to consider on sign-and-trades, including Lakers, Clippers, Knicks, Heat, Mavs and 76ers. None of those teams have cap space to sign him without Nets’ help.
