Kenny Atkinson wins NBA Coach of the Year

The Cavaliers' head coach earns the top honor after a record-breaking season. He led Cleveland to 64 wins and the East’s No. 1 seed

Kenny Atkinson has been named NBA Coach of the Year after an incredible season in his first year with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He received 59 first-place votes and beat out J.B. Bickerstaff and Ime Udoka.

Atkinson brought out the best in his stars and bench, unlocking Evan Mobley and managing minutes efficiently. The Cavaliers had three All-Stars and set multiple winning streaks across the season.

Cleveland also swept Miami in the first round, setting an NBA record. It’s the franchise’s first Coach of the Year award since Mike Brown in 2009.
