On Saturday night, Kawhi Leonard made his long-awaited season debut, contributing 12 points in 19 minutes as the LA Clippers secured a 131-105 win against the Atlanta Hawks. After 253 days away, Leonard called his return “the easy part” compared to the challenges of rehab.
Leonard shot 4-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, while adding three assists and one rebound. Clippers coach Ty Lue described this phase as a “preseason” for Leonard, limiting his playing time to 20 minutes.
The Clippers dominated the game with eight players scoring in double figures, led by Norman Powell’s 20 points and Ivica Zubac’s double-double with 18 points and 18 rebounds. James Harden dished out 15 assists. Powell highlighted Leonard’s impact, saying his presence simplifies the game for others.
Leonard, who has been battling right knee issues since 2021, emphasized staying consistent without rushing his recovery. “My goal is simple: keep playing and continue doing what’s brought me here.”
