Rokas Jokubaitis acknowledged recent discussions with Zalgiris Kaunas following Jordan Loyd’s departure from Maccabi Tel Aviv but has chosen to stay with the Israeli club. The Lithuanian guard, recovering from a thumb injury, explained his decision: “We had some talks. We talked a bit through my agent. It was more because (Jordan) Loyd left the team, so he asked me if I had any plans. You know, I have no family, no children, and Loyd’s situation was a little bit different. He showed that family is above basketball and I respect that decision. And I don’t know, I don’t feel any danger, everything is fine, so it didn’t develop any further.”
Addressing the situation in Israel, Jokubaitis added: “It’s not as complicated as it is portrayed. It’s not fun, but for me, it doesn’t give rise to some kind of feelings. I came to play basketball, that’s the situation. There are a lot of distractions, but as the coach says, let’s not look for excuses, because we can find a lot. We all knew the situation we were getting into. Psychologically, somehow, everyone is strong.”
