Johnathan Motley, center of Fenerbahce Beko, spoke about the upcoming EuroLeague semifinal against Panathinaikos Athens and his matchup with Mathias Lessort. “I can’t let him attack me all day without me doing the same,” Motley told Eurohoops. “It’s about returning the favor.”
Motley trusts in his ability to make it tough for opponents. “I think I get the most fouls on my team,” he said. Indeed, Motley leads Fenerbahce with 4.3 fouls won per game in 19:16 minutes, a significant difference compared to Lessort’s 29:32. “He has to play defense as well as I have to play defense. I think I can wear him out.”
Motley also highlighted the depth of Fenerbahce’s roster as an advantage. “The difference about our team is that he [Lessort] has three bigs he has to guard. He doesn’t have to just worry about me. He’s got to worry about Sanli and about Papagiannis,” Motley added. “Our team is well-coached and we are deep. We have a deep roster. A lot of guys who can do different things. In the EuroLeague, that helps you.”
