Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, despite being voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the regular season, has seen a drop in his scoring average in the playoffs. During the regular season, Embiid averaged 33.1 points per game (PPG), which fell to 23.7 PPG in the playoffs.
This decrease of 9.4 points represents the largest drop-off in NBA history for a player who won the MVP in the same year. This statistic is particularly significant considering the pivotal role Embiid played for the 76ers during the regular season.
Embiid’s playoff performance was further highlighted in the Game 7 night against the Boston Celtics, when the 76ers suffered a defeat that ended their playoff run.
Joel Embiid averaged 33.1 PPG in the regular season and 23.7 PPG in the playoffs.
