Joel Embiid acknowledges he might need another knee surgery

The 76ers’ star could undergo a second procedure if issues persist after the season

Joel Embiid has admitted that he might need another surgery on his left knee if the discomfort continues through the end of the season. Speaking with Lisa Salters of ESPN, Embiid suggested that repairing his knee will likely require surgery and a long recovery, something he skipped after the initial injury in February 2024.

“When you’ve got something inconsistent, at some point you’ve got to do something about it,” Embiid said, noting that all options are being considered. Since returning from a 15-game absence, he’s averaged 26.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 7.3 assists over his last three games.

Embiid acknowledged that not having enough time to fully recover after his first surgery may have led to recurring issues. “I probably need to just fully recover this summer,” he added.
