Six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler has informed the Miami Heat of his desire to be traded, according to ESPN. Butler has not provided a list of preferred destinations, stating he is open to any team and confident in his ability to elevate any franchise to contention.
After a 128-115 loss to the Indiana Pacers, where he scored just nine points, Butler said, “I want to get my joy back playing basketball. Probably not here.” His decision appears tied to internal tensions with the Heat’s management, exacerbated by suggestions he did not give full effort in recent games.
Despite preliminary trade talks with several teams, Heat president Pat Riley remains firm that Butler will not be traded. Butler, in the final year of a $49 million contract, is expected to decline his player option and enter free agency next summer.
