Jimmy Butler helps Warriors take Game 1 over Rockets

In his playoff debut for Golden State, Butler delivers 25 points and game-sealing plays

Jimmy Butler hit a clutch stepback jumper over Alperen Sengun with 1:03 to go, securing a 95-85 Game 1 win for the Golden State Warriors over the Houston Rockets. Butler finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals, becoming the first player to post such numbers in a playoff debut with a franchise since 1973-74.

Stephen Curry added 31 points, while Draymond Green and coach Steve Kerr praised Butler’s leadership and calm presence. “He just settles everything down,” Kerr said. “He’s one of the best in the league for a reason.”

Houston’s 22 offensive rebounds and Paolo Banchero’s 36 points kept things close, but Golden State’s defense and Butler’s fourth-quarter composure proved decisive. The Warriors now lead the series 1-0, with Game 2 still in Houston.
