Jaylen Brown has revealed an unexpected factor behind the strong season he’s having — salsa dancing.
“Quietly behind the scenes, I’ve been working on my salsa, and it’s actually like the secret ingredient to why I’m having the year that I’m having,” Brown said.
“I’ve been working on my footwork and my balance, and salsa has helped me tremendously.”
The Boston Celtics star explained that he’s already put in multiple sessions over the summer, working closely with his instructor Raul, who traveled to Boston to train with him.
“We’ve already done a couple sessions this summer. Raul came to Boston a couple times. Today is just an extension of what we normally do.”
Beyond performance, Brown emphasized the mental benefits of dancing — especially during cold winters:
“I live in Boston — it’s cold weather. It’s kinda cold here in L.A. too right now… but in Boston it’s really cold,” he said.
“One of the things I like to do to warm up my space is put on some salsa music and dance. It helps with your mental health and things like that.”
He even had a recommendation ready:
“If you’re in Boston, you should try it. Put on some salsa music, some Hector Lavoe, you know.”
An unconventional routine — but one that’s clearly paying off on the court.
