Jaylen Brown played through meniscus tear, could need surgery

Celtics star suffered partial tear in right knee, played on injections since March

Jaylen Brown ended the season battling a partial right meniscus tear, sources told ESPN. The Celtics forward began receiving pain injections in March and played through discomfort during Boston’s playoff run.

Despite the injury, Brown averaged 22.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in the postseason. “I don’t make excuses,” he said after Game 6. “I’m proud we fought through everything.”

He’ll be evaluated this week to determine if surgery is necessary.
