Jared McCain taken to hospital after fall, evaluated for concussion

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain was taken to the hospital for evaluation after a hard fall

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain was taken to the hospital for evaluation after a hard fall during Wednesday’s preseason victory over the Brooklyn Nets. McCain appeared to struggle to catch his breath after falling hard on the floor, seemingly hitting his head and back in the closing minutes of the game.

“It was a rough fall,” 76ers coach Nick Nurse said. “He’s headed to the hospital for checks. He seemed to be having trouble breathing, not sure exactly what happened, but I’ve never seen anything quite like it. We just hope he’s OK and we’ll wait for the hospital’s report.”

McCain, 20, the 16th overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, had 9 points and 7 rebounds in 23 minutes before the incident. After lying on the floor for several minutes, coughing and visibly struggling to breathe, he was assisted off the court. The 76ers medical staff is monitoring him for a potential concussion.
