Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green has agreed to a three-year, $106 million rookie contract extension, CAA’s Aaron Minz, Andrew Morrison and Shakira Wardally tell ESPN. The deal includes a player option for a third season, giving Green a chance to increase his earning potential in the future. Jalen Green is the first NBA player to successfully negotiate a 2-plus-1 rookie extension with a nine-figure contract.
For Green, 22, the deal represents another breakthrough moment. He became the NBA’s G League Ignite pioneer as the first 2020 signing, then was selected No. 2 overall by the Rockets in the 2021 draft.
The three-year deal gives Green short-term financial flexibility and the opportunity to earn more than $240 million in total over the next five years-more than the current maximum of $224 million-thanks to the ability to extend his contract starting in October 2026 and the ability to opt out at age 25.
