Jaka Lakovic will not continue as head coach of Dreamland Gran Canaria.
Lakovic arrived on the island in the summer of 2022 from German side ratiopharm Ulm. Over nearly four seasons, the Slovenian coach led the team in a total of 213 games across Liga Endesa, playoffs, Copa del Rey, EuroCup, and the FIBA Basketball Champions League.
During his time at the club, Lakovic won the 2023 BKT EuroCup, guided the team to another continental final, and reached the semifinals of the 2025 Copa del Rey, while also competing in the Liga Endesa playoffs in all three seasons. Throughout his tenure, he managed to qualify the team for every league postseason and every Copa del Rey edition, as well as reach the European knockout stages for three consecutive years—something the club had not achieved since the 2017/18 season. The Balkan coach leaves a lasting mark on the club’s history.
Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria thanked him for his professionalism and commitment over these four years and wished him the best in his future professional and personal endeavors.
Víctor García will take charge of the team until a new head coach is appointed.
