Ja Morant wins in Miami, repeats finger-gun gesture despite NBA warning

The Grizzlies star says he “doesn’t care anymore” about criticism

Ja Morant made headlines once again Thursday night by mimicking a gun with his fingers after a three-pointer during the Grizzlies’ 110-108 win over the Heat, despite having received an official warning from the NBA earlier this week.

The gesture came just two days after both Morant and Buddy Hield were warned by the league for similar actions in a game between Memphis and Golden State. While the NBA said the gestures were “not violent in nature,” they were deemed inappropriate. Morant was not penalized in-game but the league may take further steps.

Asked about the criticism post-game, Morant responded bluntly: “I don’t care no more. I’ve been the villain for two years now.” The 25-year-old, suspended twice previously for firearm-related incidents on social media, remains a controversial figure—but also the hero of the night, sealing the win with a buzzer-beater.
