CSKA’s head coach Dimitris Itoudis commented on the club’s decision not to renew their contract with the guard Mikhail Kulagin.
“We talked to Misha and he said it wouldn’t be goodbye for him. We will meet again, between our paths intersect again and that we will continue to work together. I fully support this behavior. He has so much talent and a desire to improve. Misha also said that she saw basketball differently before coming to our team, now she understands the game differently, from different angles, and we are proud of it. Unfortunately, the injuries did not allow Misha to help further progress and therefore help the team more. Now is the right time to find a new place to test yourself.”
As part of CSKA, Kulagin has twice become European champion (2016, 2019) and four times VTB United League champion has been called up to the national team, international of which he took part in the 2019 World Cup.
