Carlisle argued the assessment of Aaron Nesmith’s availability was handled without proper medical input from the team, despite documented findings from Indiana’s medical and performance staff. He said the Pacers offered to have league investigators speak with their doctors, but that request was declined, calling the approach “shocking.”
The NBA pushed back in a statement, saying Carlisle’s description was inaccurate and that an independent physician led the medical review. The league also said the Pacers’ general manager and senior vice president of sports medicine and performance were interviewed, and that Indiana confirmed it provided all information requested.
