Igor Kokoskov: I wouldn’t be sitting here with you today if Suns had drafted Doncic

Igor Kokoskov was only granted one season to coach the Phoenix Suns, but the Suns' 19-63 record under Kokoskov in 2018-19 may not have been entirely his fault.

Igor Kokoskov said that he would not sit on Fenerbahce’s bench now if the Suns had selected Luka Doncic in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Per Socrates Dergi (via Sports Illustrated): “I wouldn’t be sitting here with you today,” he said prior to a Fenerbahce’s game and then he talked about his development.

“There is a frightening momentum of development,” Kokoskov told Ugur Ozan Sulak of Socractes . “Last year he was one of the most talented players in the world but today he is among the few selected best basketball players in the world. It should not be forgotten that he is only 21 years old and he will be playing for 17-18 years with the prolongation of professional athletes’ careers.”

Kokoskov has been head coach of the Suns in 2018-2019 ending the season with a 19-63 record.
