The Charlotte Hornets are in discussions with the NBA as they consider challenging the Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to void the trade involving Mark Williams after he failed his physical, reports Shams Charania of ESPN. The Hornets are exploring options to dispute the Lakers’ evaluation process or seek alternative resolutions with the league.
The trade, which sent Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2030 pick swap, and a 2031 first-round pick to Charlotte, was rescinded after Williams’ medical exam raised concerns. Williams has missed 60% of games in his three NBA seasons due to back and foot injuries.
All players involved have returned to their original teams but haven’t played since the reversal. The Hornets issued a statement saying they are “excited to welcome Williams back,” hinting at potential further action regarding the situation.
