Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, faces mounting pressure following a series of controversial decisions that have angered fans and associated groups. In an official statement released on January 5, several platforms and associations, including “Sí al Futur” and “Som un Clam,” demanded Laporta and his board’s immediate resignation.
The allegations include the failure to sign basketball player Thomas Heurtel, deemed “of questionable integrity,” along with disputes over football transfers involving Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Additionally, the opposition criticizes the approval of the 2023/24 accounts without adhering to auditors’ recommendations and the mismanagement of the new Palau Blaugrana project.
Should Laporta refuse to resign, the opposition has proposed a binding vote of confidence or, as a last resort, the activation of a vote of no confidence. This reflects a deep crisis affecting the club both on and off the field.
