Heat re-signs Udonis Haslem

Your Miami HEAT announced today that they have re-signed forward Udonis Haslem. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“From the first day that I saw him compete, to the last day when we retire his jersey at our FTX home, UD will go down in our team’s history as one of the best to ever play for the Miami HEAT,” said HEAT President Pat Riley.

Haslem, a three-time NBA Champion, has played his entire 19-year NBA career with the HEAT and currently holds the longest streak by any active player with only one team in the league. Next season, he will become just the third player in NBA history to play at least 20 years with one NBA franchise in their career, joining only Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki. Haslem has appeared in 872 career regular season games (500 starts) and averaged 7.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 24.8 minutes while shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 75.6 percent from the foul line. The Miami native is the franchise’s all-time leader in offensive, defensive and total rebounds and also ranks among the HEAT’s all-time leaders in games played (2^nd), starts (2^nd), minutes (2^nd), double-doubles (4^th), field goals made (5^th), points (7^th), field goal percentage (8^th), free throws made (8^th), double-figure scoring efforts (9^th), blocks (10^th), steals (10^th), assists (18^th) and free throw percentage (22^nd). He is the only undrafted player in NBA history to lead a franchise in total rebounds and has served as captain of the HEAT in each of the past 15 seasons, the longest tenure in team history. Additionally, he is ranked fourth in the NBA modern draft era (beginning 1966-67) for rebounds by an undrafted player (5,780), trailing only Moses Malone (16,212), Ben Wallace (10,482) and Brad Miller (6,199).

Haslem has also seen action in 147 postseason games (84 starts) as a member of the HEAT and averaged 5.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 21.7 minutes while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 71.3 percent from the foul line. In addition to being the HEAT’s all-time leader in offensive rebounds in postseason play, he also ranks among Miami’s all-time postseason leaders in games played (2^nd), total rebounds (2^nd), starts (3^rd), minutes (3^rd), defensive rebounds (3^rd), field goals made (5^th), double-doubles (5^th), steals (6^th), dunks (6^th), free throws made (6^th), points (7^th), blocks (7^th) and double-figure scoring efforts (tied-8^th).
