The health and age of NBA staff will play a key role in deciding who is considered “essential personnel” should games return, reported Baxter Holmes of ESPN.
Two general managers said they felt uncomfortable about certain members of their coaching staff being present for games considering their age. “I don’t want to put them in harm’s way. … I worry about those guys. That’s an exposure that I don’t think we can afford,” one GM told Holmes.
The GM added that the league must clearly define the parameters for who is considered essential, which could lead to uncomfortable conversations of how staffers view their job security.
