Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul played and won another game in which a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague all-time record was set, routing ALBA 103-68 as Nigel Hayes-Davis became the first player to score 50 points in a EuroLeague game. Fenerbahce handled its business, improving to 20-12 on the season, while ALBA dropped to a 5-27 record.
Fenerbahce opened the game with a 10-0 run, with all of those points coming from Hayes-Davis. From there, the hosts never looked back. ALBA did cut it to single digits with a 0-12 run late in the second quarter, but Fenerbahce broke the game wide open in the third behind Hayes-Davis and Johnathan Motley.
Hayes-Davis was on 36 points before the end of the third quarter, then the chase for the record started, making a 35-point affair into a real drama as ALBA started to double-team Hayes-Davis. However, Hayes-Davis finally got the record with 18 seconds to go, with the sold-out arena going crazy.
Motley was the only other Fenerbahce player in double figures with 18 points. Sterling Brown scored 17, Martin Hermannsson netted 12 and Matt Thomas had 10 points in the loss.
