Halftime texts from wife and CJ ignite McCollum’s EuroLeague heroics

Errick McCollum scored all of his 13 points in the second half, leading Fenerbahce past Panathinaikos and into the EuroLeague final

Scoreless in the first half, McCollum came alive after halftime, sparked by messages from his wife and brother CJ McCollum telling him to “be aggressive.” The result: seven straight points and a clutch three late in the fourth.

“I saw we were struggling offensively, so I knew it was my time,” said McCollum after the 82-76 semifinal win. “Once I hit one or two, I just kept attacking. I’m thankful the coaches trusted me in those moments.”

Now 37, McCollum joined Fenerbahce mid-season from Karsiyaka and quickly became a key piece. “Stay ready. Dominate every chance you get,” he said, sending a message to other veterans—and to Fener fans: “Let’s bring this title home.”
