Gordon Herbert on Franz Wagner: We’ll have to see his situation on Tuesday

Germany remains undefeated in the FIBA World Cup 2023 despite the absence of Franz Wagner in nearly all games. Wagner injured his left ankle in the opening game against Japan on August 25 and hasn’t played since.

Head coach Gordon Herbert provided an optimistic update: “We’ll have to see his situation on Tuesday. He worked out; he looks pretty good, but you never know when you’re coming back from an injury.”

While the team has shown great depth, the question remains: will Wagner be ready for the playoffs? “If he comes back, I think Franz is good enough to adjust to the team,” believes Isaac Bonga, while brother Mo Wagner adds: “There’s no pressure; there are no expectations.”
