Giorgio Armani Steps In as Olimpia Milano Battles Monaco for Mirotic’s Signature

Massimo Pisa, on italian newspaper Repubblica-Milano, reveals an interesting backstory on the negotiations between Olimpia Milano and Nikola Mirotic for a new contract.

We read: ‘One for which King Giorgio (Giorgio Armani) himself took to the court. Summoning in recent days the Montenegrin superstar for a dinner reserved for the president Leo Dell’Orco’.

‘The three-way meeting ended with a handshake which, however, although considered valuable by the parties in Assago, is not a written contract. The competition to beat at the moment is Monaco’s offer’.

Indeed, it is stressed that the three-year contract offered by Monaco is a great temptation for the Montenegrin forward, also because of the club’s ambitions with Vassilis Spanoulis on the bench and Mike James on the court, now 2-1 in the series with Barcelona and one win away from the Final Four.
