It was a night full of emotion for Giorgos Bartzokas, who led Olympiacos to the Greek league title and later opened up about the season’s difficulties and his personal doubts during the post-game press conference.
“Today our season ended with a happy outcome. I want to be reserved, not say too much. Congratulations to the presidents, the players, and everyone who worked for this title. I need to let the dust settle and process how difficult this journey was.”
Bartzokas praised the team’s character, especially in overcoming injuries and adversity to win three straight games against archrival Panathinaikos:
“We beat a very good team three times in a row. Our team mentality gave us the trophy.”
Then came a surprising admission:
“I asked myself if I was the one disrupting unity in the club. If I’m the problem, then I should leave. I seriously thought about whether I should continue.”
He closed by praising the Olympiacos ownership:
“I’ve never seen people as supportive as the Angelopoulos brothers. I’ve never heard them criticize the players—not even once. They always say, ‘We believe in you, we love you.’ That’s what they represent. That’s the spirit of Olympiacos.”
