During a press conference for the Final Four, Georgios Bartzokas clarified his stance: “I don’t think we’re under the most pressure. We’re happy to be here. Our goal was to be here and we’ve proven that. I can’t allow anyone on the team to feel uncomfortable or feel like we’ve failed if we don’t win the trophy. I respect this institution. I know that the best players and coaches are here.”
Bartzokas spoke about the fatigue that builds up over a season, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the competition: “Talking to many coaches, we feel exhausted at the end of the season because we’ve been playing finals since October. In my opinion, there are three different competitions: The regular season, the playoffs, and the Final Four. We must enjoy it. That’s what I’m trying to convince my players. We have to give it our all and if we do, we’ll be happy.”
The coach also dismissed the idea that only the team that wins the title is successful, noting the quality of all teams in the competition. He said, “You can’t say only the team that won the title succeeded. Even teams that didn’t make the playoffs are good. They did a good job. I can’t see any team as a failure in the Final Four. We will certainly do everything we can to win the title.”
