Fenerbahce’s GM Gherardini: “Our budget has been cut in half, our goal is the 7th or 8th seed”

In an interview with Eurodevotion, Fenerbahce GM Maurizio Gherardini has spoken at length of the team’s momentum and situation after the first months of the Kokoskov era and the drastic economic cuts operated during the offseason.

“We have had to manage a transition from an incredible cycle, with a budget reduced by 50% over last season and a new technical project (…) Our season probably started too well, and our momentum was affected by the losses against CSKA and Bayern (…) We can’t repeat games and approaches like the one we’ve had in Berlin, because we can’t afford to run out of energy. Our goal is to grab the 7th or 8th seed in the Euroleague standings, and there are at least 7 or 8 teams involved in the same goal”, Gherardini said.
