As it is known, our Fenerbahçe Beko Men’s Basketball Team must play the first match of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs against CSKA Moscow in Russia on Wednesday, April 21 (tomorrow).
Our team made the travel plan to fly from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Moscow on Tuesday, April 20 (today) at 17.00, and the flight permit was reported to us as 19.00 as of 17.50 by the authorities of Russia. After the afternoon training, our team waited for a flight permit at Ülker Sports and Event Hall for hours, although the planned departure time to the airport was 15:15.
At the same time, although our team completed all Covid tests in our country in accordance with EuroLeague protocols and provided the necessary documents, CSKA officials informed us that there was an additional test requirement immediately after our landing in Russia.
As a result of the researches carried out by our club, it has been learned that this application has not been done to any EuroLeague team before.
In addition, CSKA officials stated that in case this test is rejected by our Team, our team will not be able to enter Russia in case of a possible fifth match.
According to the information received by the Turkish Embassy in Moscow, this application has not been applied to any team before and on Monday, April 19 (yesterday), our Handball National Team entered Russia without taking a second test.
Our club informed the EuroLeague officials on both issues.
We present to the public information.
