FC Barcelona and Nicolás Laprovittola have reached an agreement to sign the Argentine point guard for the next two seasons through to 30 June 2023. This is pending the outcome of a medical examination.
The player, who holds an Italian passport, has been at Real Madrid for the last two years and is currently in Tokyo competing for his country at the Olympics.
Top level experience
Born in Morón, Argentina, the 31-year-old has played 153 games in the Liga Endesa and 71 in the EuroLeague. Last season Laprovittola averaged 9.5 points and 4 assists in 32 domestic fixtures.
In his 34 European games he had 6.8 points and 3.8 assists, scoring 18 and giving 10 assists against Fenerbahçe in his final game, his top performance.
MVP of the ACB
Laprovittola played 16 games for the San Antonio Spurs before moving to the Liga Endesa, where he was named MVP of the 2018/19 season wearing the colours of Joventut Badalona (17.2 points and 6.4 assists). His season high was an immense 40 points against Herbalife Gran Canaria, with 14/20 and 2-pointers and seven 3-pointers.
There was also a fabulous 36-point display in the Copa del Rey quarter final against Baskonia, and at the end of the season he was picked up by Real Madrid, which is where he has been playing since.
