This is how Ettore Messina commented on the heavy defeat in Monte Carlo during the European debut: “Congratulations to Monaco. The game was decided by what happened in the first half. We were physically overpowered. We scored only 26 points, gave up too many offensive rebounds, and struggled physically in every position. In the second half, we played a bit ‘bigger,’ moved the ball better, grabbed more rebounds, and scored 56 points. The level of physicality wasn’t suitable for this game. We need to learn, work, and improve.”

On the concerning first half: “In the first half, we were extremely soft. We had no competitive attitude, and that was worrying. The second half was a different game.”
