Olimpia Milano coach Ettore Messina talked on La Gazzetta dello Sport. Here are some of his statements to Giulia Arturi.
ON THE SCUDETTO AS REDEMPTION
‘No, but we all want to finish in the best way possible. I understand that this is the way to evaluate the playoffs from the outside. Here at home, wrong or not, we try to be a little different, thinking more in the medium to long term. If we don’t win, that will be an important part of the growth.
ON OLIMPIA MILANO
‘Always. With hindsight you ask yourself if you could have done something differently, but you have the responsibility of leading the team to the end and certain things are right to keep them to yourself.I understand that now there are the market rumours about Nikola, the evaluation ‘oh god if we don’t win what happens’.
But this is a club that looks ahead, thanks to Giorgio Armani, who always makes us feel his closeness, and Leo Dell’Orco, a strong point of reference. We are already working not only on the next one, but on the next seasons. We will add important figures to the staff and the goal is to build the best team possible’.
