Here are Ergin Ataman’s statements ahead of the Panathinaikos AKTOR match against Baskonia in Vitoria.
ON LASO’S STATEMENTS
“Laso is a very experienced coach, more so than other colleagues who comment on my statements. I expect respect from other coaches. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I never talk about other coaches or their comments. I will never comment on what Laso said. It’s his opinion. I respect him; he’s one of the most experienced coaches in the EuroLeague and also a very good friend of mine.”
ON NUNN
“It was the first time he faced so many traps, with two or three players on him. Sometimes even great players don’t have their best day. Kendrick missed some free throws, and he got nervous in some situations that everyone saw. Some of those moments have even been circulating on social media today.
It’s normal for players like him to get frustrated and lose confidence. He didn’t feel comfortable on the court. Referees need to protect basketball, offensive basketball. The EuroLeague is one of the best competitions, very close to the NBA.
But if you let games go like yesterday’s second half, these players won’t be able to show their abilities, and the audience won’t get to see the show.”
