Just a day after his buzzer-beater heroics for France against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Elie Okobo had a far different night in the Coupe de France.
The Monaco guard was forced to leave the quarterfinal game against ASVEL after just 2 minutes and 32 seconds due to a foot injury.
Okobo had already voiced concerns about the tight scheduling, with the cup match taking place less than 24 hours after a national team fixture. He will undergo an MRI on February 26 to assess the severity of the injury. ASVEL coach Pierric Poupet criticized the scheduling, calling it “a lack of respect” towards both teams.
